Barefoot® Wellington - dressage saddle

Innovative dressage saddle in classical smooth leather.
Ultra-light dressage saddle with our well-proven VPS system (3-Layer). The 3-Layer VPS® System ensures even more protection from pressure under the stirrup attachment. The extra-narrow seat and special, flat saddle flaps allow excellent contact between the rider's leg and the horse. The detachable seat means the saddle is extremely flexible and adapts itself precisely to the horse's body shape. The open stirrup attachment is fixed between the seat and the saddle's under construction and can easily be adjusted, giving the rider an exact fit.  Riders with unequal leg length can achieve an optimal position by pushing the stirrup attachment further forward or backward to suit.

The anatomically-contoured seat has a non-slip surface; the knee roll gently stabilises the rider's leg in the correct dressage position. Additional cushioning can be fixed under the contoured saddle flaps with Velcro fastening. The saddle is fitted with a flexible V-girth.

As with all Barefoot models, this saddle can be placed further forward on the horse, thus positioning the rider directly above its centre of gravity, making it easier for the horse to balance the rider's weight.

As in all our saddles, the (mid-sized) pommel is exchangeable. (for further details see our size advisory service)

Special protection with 3-layer VPS system

VPS stands for vertebrae protecting system. It consists of a combination of different materials that distribute the rider's weight optimally and as widely as possible over the entire saddle surface. Even at a standing trot, the rider's weight is distributed over the entire saddle surface - there is therefore no restriction on the rider's weight. This saddle is specially equipped with a 3-layer VPS system and thus guarantees even more protection for the horse's back. Particularly suitable for heavier riders, trail riding and any other strenuous situations. For more information see: Barefoot flyer VPS-System.

Exchange pommel Size Middle

We normally deliver this saddle with an exchangeable pommel insert in size MEDIUM. Each Barefoot saddle is equipped with an exchangeable pommel at the front, which allows it to be adapted to the shoulder width of your horse. With the help of our measuring template you can easily determine the correct size of pommel insert for your horse (Link: Measuring template + instructions).

Velcro Stirrup Attachment open and free positioning

The open stirrup suspension with Velcro fastening is attached between the seat and the saddle substructure and can therefore be easily adjusted. This means that the saddle can easily be adapted to riders with different leg lengths simply by moving the stirrup suspension either backwards or forwards.

Narrow Stirrup-Attachment

Narrow stirrup attachment approx. 2.5 cm width, suitable for all English stirrup leathers and narrow fenders.

Flexible V-Girthing - even works for critical horse girth areas Sattel-Gurtung

The movable V-strap is often used when a horse has girthing problems. It gives the elbow plenty of room to move and, because the two strands can move independently of one another, the pressure from the girth is distributed more evenly.
